Paws

I think I’ve finally found the culprit in the paw debacle.

If I haven’t said anything, I noticed Emma chewing on her feet a little while back. It wasn’t anything consistent, just every now and then she remembers they are there. Then, I catch her licking them. Upon inspection, they were a bit rough and some calluses were developing. So, I invested in some balm for her paws.

I had a sneaking suspicion that the yard was our main problem, which I feel like is confirmed after reading that post. The previous tenants use to park their cars in the yard, and so it’s covered in gravel. I hate walking in it, probably as much as Emma. And she doesn’t really walk on any other hard surfaces, except the hardwood floors at home.

Luckily, I emailed the landlord a week ago to ask about putting in grass during my vacation time in March. Hopefully, neither of us will have to put up with it much longer.

Anyway, lesson of the day - Hard surfaces are rough on your pets. Be mindful of where they are walking, especially in extreme cold and hot (Texas!) conditions.
